    Nigerian artistes, Reminisce and Gabriel Afolayan have both bagged AMAA nominations for their roles in movies.

    The African Movie Academy Awards rewards excellence in films made on the continent and Reminisce and Gabriel Afolayan are about to be recognized in film.

    Reminisce played the role of Makanaki, a gang leader in Kemi Adetiba‘s “King of Boys” and was amazing at it and has now been nominated in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category.

    Gabriel Afolayan, known as G-Fresh in music circles too was nominated in the Best Actor in a Leading Role for his part in “Gold Statue”.

    Yesterday was Broda Shaggi‘s birthday ceremony and he got a surprise birthday celebration thrown for him by DJ Cuppy and it was really sweet.

    Broda Shaggi who started off as a comedian and now sings has never hidden his admiration for DJ Cuppy and must be excited about this party.

    He got a cake from her too even as they all sang for him. DJ Cuppy herself was dressed in a green gown and looked really beautiful.

    After the success of his sophomore album, “About 30”, Adekunle Gold is set to drop a new project and has revealed the title of the coming album and it’s titled “Afro Pop”.

    It’s set to be his third album and earlier this year, he had already released “Before You Wake Up” as his first preview into the song and already, fans can’t wait.

    Talking about the project, Adekunle Gold said: “I am having a blast creating what I’m creating. I want to have fun, not be tied down by genres” and we can’t wait for the project to drop.

  • I Have Over 35 Employees And I Don’t Owe Salary: Don Jazzy Brags

    Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy has come out to say that he has over 35 employees and in the seven years since he’s led Mavin, he has never owed salary.

    The boss himself took to Twitter to share this thought, saying that entertainers are often seen as unserious but he has never owed salary and not many companies can say that.

    In his words: “No be say na mouth. I keep hearing entertainers are not serious blah blah blah. I can proudly say I have over 35 staffs and for 7 years of MAVIN. I never owe salary. Not all your serious companies can say that sha.”

    It’s not clear yet what prompted this or even maybe the drama at Tinny Entertainment had anything to do with this but this is a pretty bold statement that no one has been able to counter just yet.

  • “I was Homeless When I left Tinny Entertainment” – Ycee

    After opening up about his deal with Tinny Entertainment and how the label exploits its artistes, Ycee has continued to speak up as he revealed that he was homeless after leaving Tinny Entertainment.

    Ycee had called out the CEO of Tinny Entertainment, known as Small Tinny for not paying royalties to his artistes and already, other artistes that were once with the label, like Bella Alubo have confirmed it.

    In his words: “When I left Tinny Entertainment I was homeless, all the time I spent out of the country last year, I was with my family in Maryland in the U.S. I couldn’t come back to Nigeria because I was homeless. I didn’t have a house.”

    While the label or the CEO have not issued official statements, the comment thread on the initial post that sparked the issue has been deactivated.

    New Island Record artiste, Tiwa Savage had to be guarded to safety in Obalende after angry thugs tried to forcefully collect money from her.

    The singer who recently released her “49-99” song yesterday performed under the Obalende bridge to the delight of music fans and after her performance, some thugs tried to extort her but she was guarded to safety by fans and security operatives who led her into a gated building.

    Tiwa Savage left Mavin Records earlier this year to join Universal Music Group and is now being managed by Island Record and we hope to see more of her as far as song releases are concerned.

  • YCee blasts former label boss for not paying his artists

    Rapper, Ycee has taken to social media to blast his former label boss at Tinny Entertainment for not paying his artistes after the latter was seen celebrating online.

    The trigger happened when the boss of Tinny Entertainment, Timilehin Arokodare known in music circles as Small Tinny took to Instagram to celebrate his label’s songs getting 100 million streams across all platforms. Ycee wasn’t having it and went after him.

    In his words: “LET IT BE KNOWN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT NOT A SINGLE DIME GENERATED FROM THOSE STREAMS GOT INTO THE POCKET OF ANY OF THE ARTISTES RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTENT THAT GENERATED THOSE STREAMS.”

    The rapper who has had previous run-ins with the government said: “You keep praying for yourself not knowing God has answered ur prayer. You got your qualifications, your healthy and ready to work. There’s nothing wrong with you, you’re perfectly fine. It’s this country u need to pray for.”

    While some people agreed with him, some did not agree, as they insisted that he was generalizing and that some people really need prayers more than Nigeria itself.
